Take me straight to Part IV.  I can't stand the suspense one minute longer...

Now the story can be told ...

Our story begins, early on a typical  March morning as his family was still sleeping. A friend of IPSO's, Dr Ryuta, a sports fan, went for the morning paper

but because he went straight to the sports section, he missed the headlines. Well, it was soon time to leave for work so he then went to the refrigerator

where he found his lunch that his wife had lovingly packed for him the night before. Again missing the obvious. The good doctor also missed the little sign on the restaurant across the street from his gorgeous new home when he looked out the window.

He was out the door, what a  beautiful day it is!

As he sped away from home, today he decided to take a new route to work. It's a long commute but Dr Ryuta enjoys the time to be alone and think. He nearly missed being hit by an oncoming truck.

Will Dr. Ryuta get to work safely with out a speeding ticket? Will he get lost on the new route to work? Will he be distracted along the way? Should Dr. Ryuta be wearing glasses? What will Dr. Ryuta have for his Lenten lunch?

PART II

As day ends, Dr. Ryuta hurries home to his loving family, who has been busy planning a birthday surprise for him.

Yes, while the Dr.'s away, the family will pray, that they can decide on the perfect surprise birthday present for Dad.  After Mom read her post card, she changed her mind about a trip to Disney Land.

Michael suggested he could write a birthday song for Dad with his new music group!

And put it on cassette.

David hoped the family could all go on a family outing.

Martha said Hollywood would be fun.

Elizabeth said, how about a family bus trip to the Big Apple?

We'd get to Grand Central.

Then to a Broadway show!

And what about baby Ruth and the family pet, Buddy?

Will they get a vote?  What will the family decide?  Will there be ice cream and cake?  Will Dr. Ryuta enjoy his birthday surprise?

PART III

There's a knock at the door... and a special delivery for Dr. Ryuta. It's a birthday present from his sister Claire.

She didn't want to miss his birthday on April 13th. And how about that spiffy heavenly wrapping paper!

(Dr. Ryuta sure loves surprises.)

It reminds him

of a sign he saw earlier this morning

well no sooner than you can say Dominus Vobiscum, he had the package open

Well, maybe someday !

Will Dr. Ryuta enjoy his new birthday book? Will everyone in the family try to borrow it? Will they remember to bake a cake? And what about Buddy?

PART IV - The Exciting Conclusion

Today, we find Dr. Ryuta enjoying the weekend, relaxing with his favorite TV show, when he was just about ready to buy a vowel !

when the family announced they had made a special birthday dinner for him!

what a dinner they made, soup

 and salad and salmon fillets!

what a party it is! Birthday cards!

and as they light the candles on the cake,

and he begins to open his presents

Go ahead and take a  guess what Dr. Ryuta's  birthday surprise is, well we're going to tell you in
just a few minutes

You're gonna love it too !
